pLEASANT HOSPITAL, SERVED THE FAMILY WELL OVER 40 YEARS.
The hospital was clean and the staff looked after us very well.
Small but extremely friendly hospital who employ the best specialists Surrey and SW London has on offer.
The children's outpatients provides a lovely environment with plenty of toys and a lovely outdoor play area to keep waiting children entertained.
This relates to my current antenatal care and my previous pregnancy, labour and postnatal stay (5 years ago). Negatives - (2013) my appointment being 'lost' and another one being changed without me being told (antenatal appointment being move to a date after I will have given birth!!). (2008) Also think that midwives on postnatal ward could have done with more training on breastfeeding support. The 1st 24 hours after birth could have been a bit better, or perhaps my expectations managed (I lay on an incontinence mat with my catheter in bleeding heavily and lying in the blood and it wasn't a nice sensation. Always wondered whether I could've worn some of the pants I brought with me).
Positives - I have found the antenatal dept nice and clean and staff friendly and helpful. I have had quite a bit of support and extra care due to my previous complicated pregnancy and birth which has been very reassuring. I feel like my consultant, Miss Wilcocks, really understands how I feel and what I went through and she seems very knowledgeable about trying to avoid the same problems as far as it possible. I haven't had to wait too long at any antenatal appointments which has been a pleasant surprise. Previously (2008) I found the care of the doctors and midwive during my complicated high risk birth excellent; their knowledge avoided a scary situation becoming much more serious.
The paediatric A&E was great - we didn't have to wait long, the area was clearly designed to make children feel comfortable, all the staff we saw were fabulous and very caring and warm despite my son being rather hysterical. In the ward the staff were also very helpful in general, and very accommodating to parents and to the needs of children (eg lots of toys available). I would definitely recommend the hospital.
Staff on reception extremely helpful and cheerful.
I felt involved in decisions made about me with Mr Beare but prior to that I was given an appointment for laser treatment without seeing a consultant to talk it through. I felt that my views and concerns were of no importance.
My main complaint about the hospital is the appalling length of time I usually have to wait. It's rarely less than two hours and once I waited four and a half hours!
I would imagine that there are not enough doctors!
I have attended Kingston Hospital many times and have always received great treatment. I hope it continues to go from strength to strength.
Only problem is with Hospital Phamacy.
They never call your number!
I was informed to wait about 15 min and guess what it took 45 min!
Then what, I got parking penalty for 20 min late.
Unacceptable!
First, the machine did not give out change and phamacy took forever.
I couldn't leave the phamacy to extend my ticket because they would call me. so I wait minute by minute.
It was all my fault wasn't it!!
